Position Summary
The Manager of Programs provides leadership, management, and oversight for all ROC ROYAL INC programs and program sites. Reporting to the Executive Director, this position ensures programs are safe, mission-aligned, fully staffed, and effectively managed to achieve measurable outcomes for youth and families. The Manager of Programs oversees program operations, supervises staff, monitors quality and compliance, manages resources, and builds strong relationships with families, schools, funders, and community partners.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring regular presence at program sites, staff coaching, problem-solving, and proactive communication with the Executive Director regarding program performance, staffing, and organizational priorities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilites
Program Leadership:
Provide oversight of all youth development, mentoring, enrichment, arts, recreation, summer, and special initiative programs.
Ensure programs have clear goals, schedules, staffing plans, operating procedures, and measurable outcomes.
Monitor program quality, participant engagement, and operational effectiveness, making adjustments as needed.
Identify opportunities to strengthen, expand, and improve programs in collaboration with the Executive Director.
Staff Supervision and Development:
Supervise, coach, and evaluate program staff while fostering a collaborative, accountable, and inclusive work culture.
Support recruitment, hiring, onboarding, scheduling, training, and retention of staff, interns, and volunteers.
Ensure staff maintain required certifications and professional development.
Operations and Compliance:
Oversee daily program operations, including staffing, participant supervision, attendance, transportation, supplies, meals, field trips, and special events.
Ensure compliance with organizational policies, funder requirements, and applicable health and safety standards.
Monitor incident reporting, emergency procedures, participant records, and confidential documentation.
Maintain appropriate staffing ratios and communicate operational concerns to the Executive Director.
Data Grants and Resource Management:
Collect and analyze program data to evaluate outcomes, improve services, and support organizational decision-making.
Prepare reports for leadership, grant funders, audits, and program evaluations.
Assist with program budgets, purchasing, inventory management, grant writing, grant implementation, and reporting.
Ensure responsible stewardship of program resources and funding.
Community and Partnership Engagement:
Build and maintain positive relationships with youth, families, schools, funders, community organizations, and other stakeholders.
Represent ROC ROYAL INC at meetings, community events, and collaborative initiatives.
Address participant and family concerns professionally while promoting a welcoming and supportive program environment.
Ensure responsible stewardship of program resources and funding
Working Conditions
This position works in office, school, recreation, community, and event settings. Regular travel between program sites is required, along with occasional evening and weekend hours to support programs and special events. The position requires standing, walking, and lifting up to 25 pounds. Qualifications
Master's degree in Education, Social Work, Human Services, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, or a related field preferred. A bachelor's degree in a related field combined with relevant professional experience will also be considered.
3-5 years of progressive experience in youth development, education, nonprofit management, or a related field.
Experience supervising staff and managing multiple programs or sites.
Knowledge of positive youth development, trauma-informed practices, family engagement, and culturally responsive programming.
Experience with program planning, budgeting, grant implementation, and performance evaluation.
Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, databases, and program management systems.
Valid New York State driver's license and reliable transportation.
School Age Credential Certified (or ability to obtain within a designated timeframe).
